Gary Hunt

Gary has been with us since the beginning! He is a graduate of Hood College with a BA in music, his career spans over 35 years with playing in various bands in the DC and greater tri-state areas. In addition to performing, he also boasts over 25 years experience teaching students of all ages, teaching reading and music theory as well as many music styles including, but not limited to, Classic Rock, Alternative, Modern, Metal, Pop, Blues and Folk. Gary also taught a popular guitar class for Frederick County Parks and Recreation for several years and he is our Lesson Coordinator. Contact Make N Music to set up your next lesson with Gary!

Jim Cupino
ELECTRIC & ACOUSTIC GUITAR, MUSIC THEORY, AND SIGHT READING

Jim began teaching guitar at local area music studios while in High School, and was an integral part in establishing the first guitar study program in the Frederick County Public School system during the 1970’s. Jim teaches music theory as well as sight reading and is comfortable playing and teaching  a variety of musical styles including, Classical, Country/Western, Rock, Folk and Blues.

Jim’s rate is $25 per half hour lesson

Marlin King
ELECTRIC & ACOUSTIC GUITAR, VOICE, AND MUSIC THEORY

Marlin really needs no introduction, to many in the Frederick and the surrounding areas, his bands have always been in demand for the past 4 decades. He has a unique perspective on music with regard to its abilities to heal, remove stress and enhance an individual’s IQ. Marlin is dedicated to his students and believes in tailoring their experience to their interests and goals, while taking a casual approach, he will guide his students in understanding music in the simplest ways. Marlin is well versed in many music styles and performance techniques including classic rock, blues, R & B, as well as country and modern rock. Matt Earp
GUITAR 

Matt offers lessons for beginners who are looking to understand their instrument and play with confidence. He also offers lessons for more advanced players who are looking to improve their precision, technique, control, and song writing skills to help prepare them or both live, and studio environment.
He specializes in sweep picking, complex chord shapes, arpeggios, and persistence.

Steve Beck
ELECTRIC & ACOUSTIC GUITAR

Steve has been playing guitar for over 30 years and teaching for over 12 years. His expertise spans over many genres, including rock, classic rock and he specializes in contemporary and traditional blues. Some of his biggest influences are Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa and Michael Schenker. Steve played professionally on the West Coast for several years before relocating to the Frederick area. In 2003, Steve was invited to play at the Frederick Blues Festival as part of the Frederick All Stars Blues Band. The blues band that evolved from that, Black Magic and Last Dog Standing, played regularly in the area and was a 2006 Memphis, TN International Blues Challenge semifinalist. His band & members received several awards by the Frederick Blues Society, and he was awarded best area Blues Guitarist for two consecutive years. He is on several released recordings and enjoys studio work as well as live performances, and regularly performs in the area playing a variety of music from the 50’s through today.Steve enjoys teaching a variety of music styles to students of all ages and levels, emphasizing the techniques behind whatever style the student enjoys playing, rather than just the mechanics of playing. He likes to focus on technique and theory, and specializes in improvisation and solo construction. Steve teaches both electric and acoustic guitar.
